4) Q
How is ISI's library organized?
A
The collection is divided between fiction and information. All
materials are labeled with blue (French), red (Spanish) or unlabeled (English). Fiction
is separated by language and reading level. Information is
separated by subject classification (Dewey) but languages are mixed. The
best way to find materials in ISI's growing library is to use our automated
catalog. Computer stations are available in the library for
student and staff searches. The catalog is available on home
computers through this web site.

5) Q
Where does ISI find materials for the library?
A
Everywhere, anywhere!
We purchase materials through American distributors, internet sites and
teachers. We are always looking for additional contacts. In
Indianapolis, we benefit from the IMCPL Book Sale and the occasional find
at the local bookstores. Our collection grows from donations. If
donations are made that are not added to the collection, these materials
are passed on to classrooms of the school. Click on Parents/Resources
for a list of internet sites for foreign language materials. Come
into the library to see catalogs.

6) Q
What is Build-the-Library-Fund?
A
The BLF is a fund raiser for the ISI library. For $15.00 a
book, an addition is made to the collection in honor of the donor or their
family or friends. If a student is the recipient of this honor,
they will help choose a book and will be the first to check it out. This
is often done to celebrate birthdays but we encourage recognizing all
occasions! It is a gift to all the students to build our library! Watch
for the form in ISI newsletters or ask in the library.

7) Q
Who is Dewey Dog?
A
In 1876, Melvil Dewey developed the Dewey Decimal Classification, a numeric
system of dividing materials by subject. It is the most widely
used method of classifing materials in the world today. Dewey Dog is used
in the ISI library to promote interest in and discovery of our collection. She
is an English Bull Terrier who is curious about everything.
